The key to these delicious rolls is in selecting quality ingredients that bring out the best flavors. I always recommend using the freshest possible ingredients, as they can truly elevate the dish. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon brewed coffee
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it’s frothy.
- Add the melted butter, egg, remaining sugar, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually stir in flour until the dough begins to form. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- For the filling, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and coffee granules in a small bowl.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread with softened butter and sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the top.
- Tightly roll the dough from the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Pour heavy cream over the rolls and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar and brewed coffee until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve.
