Ingredients
Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients. Quality matters, and I like to choose fresh, local produce whenever possible. Itβs a habit I picked up from my grandmother, who always said the secret to great cooking is starting with the best ingredients.
- 4 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Start by whisking the eggs in a bowl with salt, pepper, and milk until well combined.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a teaspoon of butter. Pour in the egg mixture and gently stir, forming soft curds. Remove from heat just before fully set.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place two slices, buttered side down, on a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread a layer of scrambled eggs on each slice, followed by a generous sprinkle of cheddar cheese.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up. Grill until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side, and the cheese has melted.
- Remove from heat, cut in half if desired, and garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.
