- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter or oil. Once melted and shimmering, add the sliced beef strips. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, toss in the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant—this is where your kitchen starts smelling like grandma’s house.
- Add the rice to the skillet, stirring to coat it in the garlic butter and onion mixture. Let it toast slightly for about 1-2 minutes, which adds a nutty flavor to the rice.
- Pour in the broth, stirring to loosen any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover the skillet with a lid and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid. Keep an eye on it—every stove is different, and I’ve found that a gentle simmer yields the best fluffy rice.
- Once the rice is cooked, return the cooked beef to the skillet. Gently stir everything together, allowing the flavors to meld for a couple of minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
- Turn off the heat and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley. Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley or a squeeze of fresh lemon if you like a bright contrast.
From my experience, letting the skillet rest for a minute or two before serving helps everything settle and makes it easier to serve clean, beautiful portions. This dish is best enjoyed hot—trust me, the garlic butter aroma alone will have everyone at the table eagerly waiting.
