Learn how to make delicious Lemon Garlic Shrimp. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For those of you who love experimenting, you can swap the olive oil for a good quality avocado oil for a slightly nutty flavor. And if parsley isn’t your herb of choice, fresh cilantro can add an exciting twist!

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it brown, as this could make the garlic bitter.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, then add the lemon juice, zest, and butter to the skillet. Toss the shrimp until they are well-coated in the sauce.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Serve immediately, garnished with additional lemon slices if desired.

One of the best tips I learned from my grandma is to always taste as you go. Adjust the seasoning to your liking, and remember, cooking is as much about personal preference as it is about following a recipe.
