Learn how to make delicious Mango Strawberry Swirled Slushies. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

When I first started experimenting with these slushies, I found that using fresh, ripe fruit makes all the difference. I love to keep things simple, but I also like to have some substitutions on hand for those times when certain ingredients are harder to find. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 cups fresh mango chunks (or 2 cups frozen mango pieces)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled (or 2 cups frozen strawberries)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or honey/maple syrup as a natural sweetener)
  • 1 cup cold water or coconut water for extra flavor
  • 1-2 cups ice cubes (adjust based on desired thickness)
  • Optional: a squeeze of fresh lime juice for a tangy twist
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish or added flavor

Personally, I love using frozen fruit because it creates a thicker, frostier texture that mimics the classic slushie feel. But if fresh fruit is your only option, just add a few extra ice cubes. I also like to keep a jar of honey on hand because it dissolves easily and adds a lovely natural sweetness, but maple syrup works just as well. When I was a kid, my grandma would sometimes toss in a splash of orange juice, which adds a lovely citrus note — I recommend trying that if you want a bit of extra zing.

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your fruit. If using fresh mango and strawberries, peel and hull the strawberries, and cut the mango into chunks. If you prefer a colder, more slushie-like texture, freeze the fruit ahead of time for at least 2 hours. I find that frozen fruit creates a thicker, more satisfying slush.
  2. In a blender, combine the mango, strawberries, sweetener (honey or maple syrup), and water or coconut water. If you like a tangy twist, add a squeeze of lime juice here. Blend until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more water; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
  3. Pour the blended mango mixture into glasses, filling about two-thirds of each glass.
  4. Next, blend the strawberries separately with a little water or ice until smooth. Pour the strawberry puree gently over the mango layer, creating a beautiful swirl. I love to use the back of a spoon to gently swirl the two layers together — it’s like making a little piece of art in each glass!
  5. Finish by adding a few extra ice cubes if you like your slushie extra cold and thick. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or a small wedge of lime for a pretty presentation.
  6. Serve immediately with a straw or a spoon — these are best enjoyed fresh for that perfect icy texture.

One of my favorite tricks is to prepare the fruit the night before and freeze it overnight. It makes mornings so much easier, especially when I want to whip up a quick treat for my kids or myself. I remember the first time I swirled the berries into the mango — the colors looked so vibrant, and the flavor combo was just divine. That’s the kind of simple joy I love sharing through my recipes.
